Rachel is originally from the beautiful island of New Zealand. After completing a BSc. in Biology and Environmental Studies and an MSc. in Environmental Studies at the Victoria University of Wellington, Rachel worked for various non-for-profit organizations as a program coordinator and field technician. In 2019, Rachel moved to Canada and fell in love with the landscape, wilderness, flora and fauna of the East Kootenays in British Columbia.
In 2023, Rachel joined Lotic Environmental as a technician and quickly grew into the role of a Project Coordinator. Rachel has been able to work on a variety of projects, gaining valuable experience and involvement with: drying/stranding surveys, overwintering fish monitoring, fish salvages, fish habitat assessments, spawning surveys, snorkel surveys, invertebrate sampling, water quality sampling, logger data collection, calcite surveys, and fish passage assessments.
Rachel also continues to gain valuable project coordination experience and is responsible for project planning, scheduling, data management and analysis, technical report writing and managing teams in the field. Rachel’s positive and upbeat attitude, strong work ethic, attention to detail and excellent organizational skills have made her a great addition to the Lotic team.
