Luke has been an Environmental Technician with Lotic since spring 2023. Luke completed his Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science (University of Lethbridge) and has since gained work experience in both terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems.
While Luke shows admirable flexibility to adapt to his everchanging work environment, and the ability to take on any project he's assigned, his true passion is for wildlife, with an emphasis on birds. Birding may have started as a hobby but after discovering his affinity for ornithology during his time at university, he began honing his visual identification skills, later expanding his interest into aural ID, species specific morphology, habitat identification, and behavior. He is now one of Lotic's lead wildlife technicians and regularly conducts bird nesting surveys, wildlife sweeps, and count point surveys.
Luke's other experience with Lotic includes surface and groundwater monitoring, electrofishing, fish salvaging and handling, snorkel surveys, water quality sampling, and calcite monitoring.
