Brooke is a Project Coordinator and Senior Environmental Technician/Lead and has been with Lotic since the fall of 2023. She began her career over a decade ago as an environmental field technician in Alberta’s lower Kananaskis Range, tracking wolves and grizzly bears and studying predator-livestock dynamics alongside U.S. biologists, conservation enforcement teams, and local ranchers. That experience sparked her passion for ecology and conservation, eventually leading to a diploma in Recreation, Fish & Wildlife from Selkirk College in Castlegar, BC.
Since then, she has worked across a wide range of environmental fields, including wildlife monitoring and stewardship, range management, land conservation, reclamation and restoration (including earthworks and native plant revegetation), marine conservation, public education, water quality, and freshwater fisheries monitoring.
Most of Brooke’s free time is spent adventuring in the wild—on horseback, by small plane, or aboard a sailboat. This lifestyle has strengthened her ability to adapt to ever-changing environments and safely monitor dynamic field conditions. She brings strong skills in backcountry and marine risk assessment, pre-field planning, and navigation using a variety of systems.
Brooke’s objectivity, transparency, and honesty—paired with a lighthearted nature and strong sense of humor—make her an effective leader and supportive team member in any role. She believes open, clear communication is the foundation of strong relationships and has a long history of working well with a wide range of people, including local community members, the public, and contractors and clients on large-scale construction projects.
Brooke splits her time between Canadian field seasons and remote work while living aboard a 38-foot sailboat, having logged thousands of nautical miles across open ocean and coastal waters. While traveling, she studies the cultures, ecologies, and environmental protection practices of the places she visits, gaining insight into conservation strategies across diverse landscapes, countries, and belief systems.
At the core of Brooke’s lifestyle and career is an insatiable curiosity—an eagerness to learn, grow, explore, and engage deeply with the world around her. Whether working as a Lotic project coordinator or navigating remote coastlines, she brings a grounded, thoughtful, and adventurous spirit to everything she does.
